The Bearded Broadcaster

About Me

I’m a highly experienced communicator – calm, authoritative with a reassuring voice. I’m a BBC trained journalist who spent more than 30 years presenting and producing live radio programmes. I’ve combined broadcasting with teaching, training and mentoring. Words are my business – writing them, speaking them or recording them. During the final years of my mother’s life I recorded the award-winning ‘Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary’: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p082m6hx I’m a proud Yorkshireman, who loves photography!

My Services

Freelance Presentation

I’d love to work with you – whether it’s developing your presentation skills or using mine. I was trained by the BBC as a reporter and worked as a presenter and producer of live radio programmes for three decades, winning many awards. I’m an experienced chair of events, debates and conferences. I’m equally happy helping with your script writing and delivery skills, or doing the writing and voice work for you. I’d love to talk to you about how I can help!

Training & Teaching

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with public sector and business groups. I also spent seven years teaching radio journalism and production at university alongside my broadcasting. I now work as a freelance teacher and mentor. Let me help with your media skills, what to say and how to say it, developing training for you and your organisation. I specialise in bringing the written word alive, whether it’s on air, in a speech or voicing a script.

Andrew Edwards Alzheimer's Society

Dementia

My lovely Mum died with dementia, and I’m passionate about breaking down some of the barriers surrounding the disease by talking and writing about it. I was given a Dementia Hero award by the Alzheimer’s Society for the weekly ‘Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary’ available on BBC Sounds: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p082m6hx

I’m also involved with hospital radio, where I took my first steps into broadcasting. Let’s see if we can work together.
